Naturally-leavened bread, sometimes called sourdough, has been enjoyed by humans for over 5,000 years. Early farmers learned that adding a little time to their grain and water concoctions inflated the dough, which then baked into lighter bread with more flavor and health benefits. About 100 years ago, bread began to be industrially made for maximum output, resulting in inferior taste and nutrition, and more added ingredients. At St. Joe’s we return to the time-tested method of naturally-leavened, organic 3-ingredient bread.

To make great bread readily accessible, we have developed a bread subscription program which will begin Fall 2024.
